As Texas Pride Community Foundation enters its second decade, we’re stepping into a new chapter with a newly adopted strategic plan. Shaped by conversations with dozens of community stakeholders across Texas, the plan reflects both pride in how far we’ve come and a clear call for transformational change as LGBTQ+ communities face growing challenges across the state. We have seen time and again that gains and setbacks are a constant in the fight for LGBTQ+ equity, and that progress rarely moves in a straight line.
The plan also centers our continued commitment to community impact. We will sustain and strengthen our grant making, deepen relationships with nonprofit partners across the state, and explore how Texas Pride can play a stronger role in connecting leaders, sharing knowledge, and supporting collaboration across the LGBTQ+ nonprofit ecosystem. We have funded over 120 organizations over the last decade. Our statewide knowledge and experience make us not only uniquely but solely qualified to fill these roles. Thus, our vision is not only to fund important work, but to help strengthen the broader community infrastructure that makes progress possible.
As a community foundation, Texas Pride exists to stand with those on the ground navigating those societal swings, investing in the people, organizations, and long-term resources that help communities respond, endure, and build forward. This plan is about strengthening that role and building the foundation our communities need for the future ahead.
A New Strategic Plan for Our Next Chapter
We’re excited to share that Texas Pride Community Foundation has adopted a new strategic plan to guide our next chapter. In interviews with dozens of community stakeholders across Texas and beyond, we heard both pride in what TPCF has accomplished in its first decade and a clear challenge for the decade ahead: this moment calls for transformation. As our community faces heightened pressures, incremental growth is not enough. We must think bigger, build faster, and strengthen the long-term resources, leadership, and infrastructure our communities need. We listened, and that commitment to transformational change is guiding our work as we enter 2026.
At a time when LGBTQ+ communities across Texas are navigating both deepening challenges and emerging possibility, this plan is about building something lasting: a stronger, more permanent philanthropic home for our community.
Building Permanent Assets
A major focus of the plan is building the long-term resources that will sustain Texas Pride well into the future. That means growing permanent assets, expanding legacy and planned giving, deepening donor engagement, and strengthening the stewardship systems that help generosity grow into lasting impact. We believe this work is essential to ensuring that LGBTQ+ Texans, especially in communities too often overlooked, have a foundation built to serve them for generations.
- Build stronger permanent and flexible resources to sustain the foundation for the long term
- Expand legacy giving, planned giving, and donor advised funds as pathways for lasting community investment
- Deepen donor engagement through stewardship, customized communications, and stronger relationship-building
- Activate board and community ambassadors to broaden and diversify support for Texas Pride’s future
Strengthening Impact & Ecosystems
The plan also centers our continued commitment to community impact. We will sustain and strengthen our grant making, deepen relationships with nonprofit partners across the state, and explore how Texas Pride can play a stronger role in connecting leaders, sharing knowledge, and supporting collaboration across the LGBTQ+ nonprofit ecosystem. Our vision is not only to fund important work, but to help strengthen the broader community infrastructure that makes progress possible.
- Sustain and strengthen grant making with continued focus on LGBTQ+ communities most often marginalized and underserved
- Build better systems to understand grantee impact, community conditions, and the effectiveness of our funding
- Support nonprofit partners through connection, collaboration, and low-cost capacity-building opportunities
- Strengthen grant making practices by incorporating community knowledge, stronger learning tools, and clearer impact assessment
Preparing Texas Pride for the Future
Just as importantly, this plan prepares Texas Pride internally for the future ahead. By strengthening our operations, governance, staffing, and board leadership, we are building the capacity needed to match our mission and momentum. We’re proud of how far this community has helped us come and excited for what we can build together in the years ahead.
- Strengthen staffing, operations, and internal infrastructure to support the foundation’s next stage of growth
- Prepare thoughtfully for leadership transition in ways that support continuity, stability, and long-term success
- Refine board structure, governance, and engagement so leadership is aligned with the moment ahead
- Build an organizational culture grounded in effectiveness, accountability, and readiness for the future
